Matt and Anna started Newfound wines in the Sierra Foothills with the purchase of a 40 acre estate- just 6 of which were planted to grapevines so in addition to farming their own plots they have great relationships with local organic growers as well. ‘Gravels Blanc’ comes entirely from a 15 year old plot in Lake County and is 100% Semillon. By aging in a combination of used oak barrels and concrete tanks for a year they created a beautiful creaminess to the wine that will appeal to fans of fuller-bodied California whites.
