Joanna and Shawn Castorani are making beautiful- honest wines on the border between the Sonoma Valley and Petaluma Gap AVAs. After working as winemakers for some heavy hitters in California they ultimately wanted to be able to make their own wines so they started Model Farm in 2013 by leasing just a small plot of Syrah and have grown to now working with a handful of conscientious organic farmers to create 5 wines including this elegant Chardonnay from the Wildcat Mountain vineyard. Wildcat sits on pure volcanic rock and sees lots of wind keeping the wines fresh and with little disease pressure. The wine is fermented and aged in neutral barrels and then finishes for 6 months in stainless the steelLight on its feet clean finishes with a delicate almond milk creaminess.
