The Lakzano family established the Gaintza cellar in 1923 in the capital of Getariako Txakolina which has only been an appellation since 1989. Gaintza is named for the high elevation site that overlooks the Cantabrian Sea. Four generations of the family have been making high quality wine here like the Bixigu; fresh, juicy citrus, with the signature fizziness the region is famous for.
