Several generations of Cantalapiedras have worked this land in Rueda, but until recently they sold off their fruit to larger producers. In 1949 they started to make their own wines and have continued to do so with organic farming, and a gentle touch in the cellar. This 100% Verdejo comes from entirely from the Chiviritero vineyard of 43-year-old vines grown on pebbles over sandy clay fermented in French oak and then rested for 11 months in the same barrel with a small portion in stainless steel. This gives the wine richness and soft, rounded edges with a vein of fresh acidity and minerality giving it tension and structure.
