he Kofererhof estate is one of the smallest in Italy, and as it sits right near the Austrian border, it feels much more Austrian in character than German. The Kerschbaumer family has been in charge since 1940’s and like the families before them, mostly sold grapes to the larger co-ops, but in 1995 decided to bottle their own wine because the quality of their grapes was so high compared to their neighbors. This 100% Kerner (a cross of Trollinger and Riesling) is crisp, lightly floral; like walking through a spring meadow and drinking from the creek!
