The Loi family has been growing grapes on Sardinia entirely without chemical inputs since the early 1900s. The Cardedu estate is on the lesser populated Southeast coast where the soil is rocky granite. Though it is getting hotter every year, the Loi’s prefer to pick their fruit on the early side so the wines stay fresh and bright. The ‘Nuo’ is 100% Vermentinu (native to the island) grown on granite. The wine spends just a few hours on the skins giving it a golden yellow color, but only the tiniest bit of tannin or oxidation. Fresh, juicy Meyer lemon, white peach, seasalt, and basil; a great pairing for seafood pastas or grilled vegetables.
