The Boulay family has been working the land of Sancerre as far back as 1380! The wines made by Gerard Boulay, the current generation, are the epitome of classic Sancerre, not the more modern style looking to mimic the Sauvignon Blancs of New Zealand. Many of their plots are planted on Kimmeridgian limestone (well-known in Chablis) which gives their wines a distinct, flinty character. In the cellar they let the wines ferment naturally and they use as little sulfur as possible, but the wines are clean, elegant, and actually can age beautifully.
