Arnaud Lambert, who took over from his father Yves, lovingly takes care of something the most prized sites in the Saumur area, where most of the fruit there ends up in bulk wine made by the cooperatives. Arnaud farms his plots biodynamically and in the cellar takes a gentle approach in order to make clean wines that really reflect the land. The ‘Clos du Midi’, one of the famous walled vineyards of Saumur, is comprised of sand and limestone soil with vines over 40 years old. Beautiful richness of fruit up front, followed by crisp acidity and a long, delicate chalky, mineral finish. Insane value for a wine this good.
