Kathleen Van den Berghe took over this bucolic estate in 2016. Based in the only Grand Cru village of the Loire Valley, Quarts du Chaume, though it can only be labeled Grand Cru when making dessert wines, so this bottling bears the humble “Anjou Blanc” label because it is a dry wine. With 6.5 hectares of vines and a further 10 planted to a flourishing garden and orchard, all farmed biodynamically with cows and chickens roaming the vineyards. For ‘La Creation’ the fruit is vinified in stainless steel and aged 8 months on the lees before release. We were lucky enough to find several cases of this from the 2018 vintage that now shows ripe orchard fruit and a honeyed note that makes it perfect as a cheese pairing wine.
