Do not be fooled by the humble “Anjou” appellation, this beautiful, delicate, lighter than air Chenin Blanc is made from the only Grand Cru vineyards in the Loire Valley; Quarts du Chaume. Since Quarts du Chaume is designated as a sweet, botrytized wine, any dry table wines like this one cannot receive Grand Cru status. Today this estate is led by an incredible young winemaker, Vanessa Cherruau, who works with her team on these famous vines with the utmost care and fully biodynamic practices. The ‘Ronceray’ is a blend of a handful of parcels with vines over 40 years old on schist bedrock. The wine is fermented and aged in 70% stainless steel, 30% foudre and showcases this remarkable site with instense mineral character and salinity.
