Cabernet Franc from California can be very tasty- but it rarely seems more compelling than a bottle from the Loire valley. This bottling from the Curtis Vineyard in Santa Ynez Valley was a delightful exception. The quintessential green notes of Cab Franc show up as roasted peppers layered over notes of stewed raspberry black currant espresso and stony gravel. Curtis Vineyard is another high-elevation site at 1100 ft but the site remains a bit warmer than most in Santa Barbara County which is why this variety is able to get perfectly ripe. –
