Steve Matthiason is an absolute legend out in Napa for his excellent farming and old-school style of wine-making that favors freshness and balance over extraction and high-alcohol. This blend is 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot. The nose shows red fruits, lots of bright cherry along with blackberry, cranberry, mulberry, and framed with hints of mineral/herbal characters such as graphite, cedar, and pencil shavings. The palate is vibrant and fresh, with medium tannin and beautiful acidity. Decanting is highly recommended.
