Chris Brocoway works with a handful of organically farmed vineyards throughout California, including one of his own. All of the Broc Cellars wines seem to reflect Chris and California, in that they are bright, sunny, joyful, and easy to love. Chris, very decidedly, wanted to buck the trend in the region that “bigger is better” opting for lower alcohol and less intervention in the cellar. The ‘Love Red’ is a medium-bodied, chillable (though perfectly lovely at room temperature) blend of Carignan, Syrah, Valdiguié, Mourvedre, and Grenache fermented in steel with partial carbonic maceration to give it lift, and then aged in neutral barrels and steel tanks. A fantastic pairing for gooey pizzas or spaghetti and meatballs.
