Bodegas las Orcas is a small family run winery in Rioja Alavesa. Cristina San Pedro Rández and Raimundo Abando are the 5th generation of winegrowers- and recently welcomed their daughter Lucia into the family operation. The Reserva is 100 % Tempranillo unusual for Rioja which is typically blended with Garanacha. It comes from a single vineyard Entradas de San Ángel where the climate is cooler and higher in altitude than the rest of the region. It spends 24 months in French oak barrels and a minimum of 16 months in bottle before release. A surpisingly refreshing example of Rioja Reserva!
