Francesco Mulinari grew up on a small piece of land that had a few olive trees and grape vines, but his family was not in the business. It wasn’t until he discovered that technically those vines were within the classified region of Brunello di Montalcino that he decided to give winemaking a go! The farming has been done organically and entirely by hand since he began in 2001, and recently he purchased a second vineyard to expand the project. In the cellar he is very hands off and the winery consists of just a few barrels and tanks and not much more (the smallest in Montalcino!). This wine is a great value for Brunello lovers; pleasantly rustic, savory, and nicely balanced with notes of stewed black cherry.
