The Loi family has been growing grapes on Sardinia entirely without chemical inputs since the early 1900s. The Cardedu estate is on the lesser populated Southeast coast where the soil is rocky granite. Though it is getting hotter every year- the Loi’s prefer to pick their fruit on the early side so the wines stay fresh and bright. This cuvée is made from native Sardinian variety ‘Monica’ which makes a silky medium-bodied red of juicy black plum salty volcanic minerality and soft easy-going tannins. Try this with burgers in the backyard or other grilled dishes.
