7th generation wine-maker Matthieu Barret took over the family vines when he was 23 years old and has been an incredible steward of the land. Everything is done by hand or by horse and he has created an abundance of ‘green spaces’ on the land encouraging the vines to live in a more ‘wild’ environment. Grapes that are purchased for some of the cuvées come exclusively from other organic or biodynamic farms. For the ‘Brise Cailloux’ Matthieu blends from 50 parcels to create this vibrant, expressive Cornas; not nearly as burly or tannic as the stereotype for this village.
