Unlike so many of the winemakers in Bordeaux who come from a long family heritage in the region, Michel Theron actually comes from further south in the Languedoc, but came to Bordeaux to study wine and fell in love with it! He bought a small parcel in Cantenac which has since grown to a still tiny 7 hectares including vines in the famous village of Margaux. By 2008 he had converted all of the farming to Biodynamics, one of the early adopters in Bordeaux, and the vines have thrived under his care. The ‘Haut-Medoc’ is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, and 7% Petit Verdot and sees the least new oak of the Jaugueyron lineup and is meant for current consumption, though we love this wine with 5-10 years of age.
