Vines have been documented on the Chateau Mazeyres estate since the 1300’s! In the 1990’s, Alain Moueix took over as the vineyard manager; transitioning the farming to biodynamics and greatly improved the quality of winemaking. Despite 2016 being a challenging year, the fruit was excellent quality by the time harvest came around and the vintage is one of the best in their recent history. The blend from the Mazeyres vineyards is 73.1% Merlot, 24.3% Cabernet Franc, 2.6% Petit Verdot and the wine spends 14 months in oak barrels (33% new) Though the wine is showing beautifully now, this wine could be aged for another 5-15 years. Perfect for a holiday roast, filet mignon, or earthy mushroom dish.
