Domaine Bordenave is making beautiful wines in the South-West corner of France in a little appellation called Jurançon (not to be confused with the Jura). Always great value- they make styles ranging from bone-dry to fully sweet. Anyone who claims they don’t like any wines that are “sweet” just have never had the sheer delight that is a well made dessert wine that properly balances freshness with sweetness. With the array of pies pastries or even a selection of strong cheeses at the end of this meal the ‘Cuvée des Dames’ which is fully sweet (but not at all cloying) with notes of pear quince roasted nuts and spice is the perfect finish.
