Wilderness Trail Distillery is the oldest legal distillery in historic Danville, Kentucky. One of the few that actually produces all of their whiskies on site, and use all local grains. Their distillers are well known in the industry as fermentation specialists and utilize a “sweet mash” rather than a “sour mash” for the most flavor. The blend for this ‘Bottled in Bond’ is 64% corn, 24% rye and 12% malted barley. That high percentage of rye makes this a uniquely spicy Bourbon, but the sweet mash and high quality barrels give this just enough caramel and red fruited notes to balance it.
