Leopold Bros is a small family run distillery in Colorado making spirits from locally grown grains- malting distilling aging on site and never using any additives all incredibly rare in the Bourbon world. This is a pre-prohibition style of Rye popular during the Civil War. Since then all of the Maryland rye distilleries have closed but after tasting countless examples of old Maryland Rye Todd Leopold was able to recreate the flavor with a mashbill of 65% rye 15% corn and 20% floor malted barley fermented with a yeast strain that highlights the fruitness of the rye rather than its pepperiness.
