This is exactly the kind of farm-to-bottle distillery we love to support! Cooper’s Daughter is led by Sophie Newsome who wanted to create something that celebrated local farmers and her father’s passion for history and restoration. They settled in a historical farmhouse in the Hudson Valley where her fathers makes their barrels on-site from locally grown American White Oak. For the ‘Black Walnut Bourbon’ the whiskey is first aged in her father’s new barrels and then finished in barrels that previously held black walnut syrup from their own black walnut trees- giving the finished product just a hint of sweetness and that deliciously nutty black walnut flavor; like having an old fashioned without the work!
