Zanj Rums is a new label from one of the oldest operating rum distilleries in Haiti. Berling S.A. traces its lineage back to 1862 in Port-au-Prince, when it was co-founded by Labbe Barbancourt, and remains in the family today. Haitian rum, traditionally called ‘Clairin’ is made from fermented, fresh sugarcane juice rather than molasses like most Caribbean rums. This expression is made by blending from two clairin producers with the addition of an un-aged molasses rum.
