St. George set out to make a California take on the Italian classic aperitivo. For the ‘Bruto Americano’ the bitterness comes primarily from gentian root; the citrus notes mostly from California-grown Seville orange; balsam fir and Cascara sagrada (bark from the California buckthorn) for woodsy notes and several more proprietary ingredients. On the more bitter, herbal end of the aperitivo spectrum making it great for Negronis and Boulevardiers!
