La Gritona is an entirely woman-run distillery in the heart of Valle de Guadalupe- Jalisco. Master distiller Melly Barajas will only use fully mature agave plants from the local highlands and always picked at the peak of their sugar production. Their tequila is aged for 8 months in used American whiskey barrels and they never use any additives (as many large Tequila productions do). The glass bottles are handblown from recycled glass from a glassblower near the distillery and any agave waste is given to local farmers to feed their cattle.
